The Wonders of Brainstorming

My wife and I were driving the other day and saw a pizza ad poster on the way. It was a 1+1 place, where you get 2 pizzas for the price of one. Pretty sweet deal, usually, when the pizza is good.

Being pizza patrons, we immediately called these guys, but unfortunately found out they wouldn’t deliver to our area. That was the end of this story, but it became the beginning of a hilarious brainstorm of ideas during which we had to stop in order to avoid crashing the car.

The Idea

Out of nowhere my wife says that it’d be cool if there’d be a pizza place called “Fatso Pizza”.

Huh?

“Yea, think of all the marketing ideas that could be used for this:

• “Fatso Pizza – Try our famous double-decker pizza”
• “Fatso Pizza – Not fat yet? Buy our extra pepperoni XL double-decker pizza”
• “Fatso Pizza – We care about your health. Get a free salad next to our famous extra pepperoni XL double-decker pizza.
• “Fatso Pizza – Now with even more calories. Our famous double-decker pizza in a ‘2 for 1′ special”
• “Fatso Pizza – We care about the environment. Our pizzas are delivered in edible boxes”

This led to a brainstorm of marketing ideas. I would come up with a line and then she would. Each one was more refined in its humor than the last. We’ve had about 30 lines that were making us shake in convulsions of laughter. As I mentioned earlier, at one point we had to stop the car to laugh it out.

The Moral

So, what I learned from this experience is that brainstorming ideas is a great practice. I was usually keeping everything concerned with internet marketing to myself, but now will definitely get my wife or others involved in the creative process.

After getting home I found out that there are Fatso’s Pizza, Fat Man’s Pizza, Fat Boy’s Pizza places already out there.
Go ahead, Google it.
