In the beginning, I knew nothing about making money online, not to mention affiliate programs or affiliate marketing. One day, I just Googled “how to make money online”. You can imagine that every scammer on Google was after me with this keyword…
Luckily, although I knew nothing about making money online, I knew enough about the Internet to dig deeper than that. I started reading blogs, sifting out splogs of course, read a few forum discussions and basically got the feeling of this niche.
Like any of you probably did, I followed the gurus and opted-in to all kinds of mailing lists to receive free ebooks and how-to’s. I was swamped with information and the many money-making techniques. I was dreaming of multiple income streams and was ecstatic…
…during exactly one month.
After that moth, I started to suspect that with all those offers, methods, techniques, and way to make money online, it is probably a big bubble to get beginners to pay for info products.
Obviously enough, I ended up doing exactly nothing of what I’ve read as ways to make money online. I made a pledge not to buy another ebook ever again and, as a general rule, not to pay for anything again.
It’s human nature to choose the easiest path and stay in the comfort zone and, so I did. I was blogging and hoping to monetize the blog at some point. The “wonderful” and very promising ways to make money online I discovered in my initial research were long forgotten.
This is the point where most people would just forget about making money online and Internet Marketing altogether.
The comfort zone for me was not to spend too much money, and not to go where I was new. I had WordPress skills naturally I chose to go the blog way. A full year has past before I realized I needed to change my strategy, making minimal sales that wouldn’t even pay for my grocery bill. A full year!
Fortunately, I had the brains to realize that a huge change is needed, and enough persistence to make myself go into new online ventures.
I have chosen to pay for PPC coaching, and bought a really outstanding Internet Marketing ebook: One Week Marketing.
It’s been a few months since, and those two have provided me with the needed insights to dominate niches using both SEO and Pay Per Click, and for the first time in a long time I started to see sales coming in.
So what did I learn from all that?
Let me give the beginners a piece of advice:

i was walking that same path with you Alex. I followed the so called gurus and super affiliates in hopes of being able to learn from them and achieving what they’ve accomplished. but the only thing i’ve achieved was receiving massive emails from them and others to opt in and be nothing more than just a little pawn on their chessboard.
like you i wanted to gain some income without throwing out a lot of money for it. so i researched, read and researched more and learned the basics of what i needed to know to start things off. a few months later i was able to accomplish some conversions and sales and found myself making some good doe!
and now with the recommended OWM from you and mirjam, i see a little more coming my way.
so yes — ask around but dont go asking the “gurus” and “super affiliates” they’ll just give you the run around — heck 90% of the time they dont even reply or respond back to anything you have to say or question. my advice is to go ask around with the low profiled bloggers, affiliate marketers and so forth. they provide more of a realistic insight on how things are done in this game.

Hey Pheak,
Thanks for stopping by. You see, it IS possible to be the first!
Making money with affiliate programs is a business after all. You have to treat it as such and not hope for a miracle method that will give you results without work.
A lot of gurus will tell you that it is possible to create a stable cash-generating income stream that will run on auto-pilot. But few will tell you what investment is actually required, even if it’s only about investing your time.
It is possible to create such a monster, hehe, and I’m on my way right now. You just have to be prepared to pay a few bucks here and there, and work your ass off in the beginning.
like them old wise men say “work now, play later” the time invested in this will all show at the end and be worthwhile.
nothing is easy and nothing is free so with that considered yes a few bucks here and there and in return a better, brighter look on life right
where you at again Alex, once the work is through i’ll have to visit and do a meet up with ya of course you know thats years down the road

hey Alex!
we´re on the same path lol
great seeing your progress
My comment is mostly geared to point 1:
“Try to join a community of like minded people. That way you will have a way to easily find out what works and what doesn’t. What program is a scam and which is a true money maker. Find a paid forum or a paid coaching program, this automatically weeds out spammers and freeloaders.”
I think this is one of the thoughest things to choose. I mean… “a community of like minded people”? I think there is where the actual problem lies, because once you have made up your mind and want to go “earn money online” you will find a lot of like minded people wanted to do just that, and it is not easy to know which is the right community that will actually help you get ahead. As a newby it is just almost impossible to seperate the right from the wrong, because you don´t have the insights of those already making money. see, a bit like a never ending circle really and the only way to escape is to actually get the experience and learn how to seperate the good from the bad if you know what i mean.
Not all paid forums and communities will be the right one, and some really really good free resources are online that shouldn´t be discarded, (actually priceless in comparison to paid communities)
I know what you mean though, and had I known back then what I know now, I would have done a lot of things completely different. It is scary at first to invest in your online business, but if you come to think of that, really think of it, how weird is it that many almost expect to build an online business for free, without spending a dime on resources and education, while we spend a lot of time and effort (read, WASTE time and effort) doing it the free way.
Only once you get the real guest of that, understand that even though you don´t spend money, you are losing money by wasting time and effort, will come the real realizations and understandings needed to build a business online.
I think the owm is a great way to really learn the ropes when it comes to basics, I know it has already done a lot for me in terms of working along a set schedule (something i really needed) but there are things that could really improve that plan. I also know for sure, that had I had only gotten in touch with that plan first time i went online searching for ways to make money, I would have been much further ahead than I am right now …
All a learning curve, but I am sure we will get there!

OK. This is long overdue but, better late than never, right?
So, about that community of like-minded people. Yea, noobs will not know shit from cream online. That’s why they will miss all the good free resources. Tough luck.
But, join a community of people (forum) and have a healthy discussion about what’s in there for you and you will get a lot of useless info out of the way.
And, no don’t run and post on WickedFire, WorriorForum, etc.. A lot of people that shouldn’t be there, are there… so a newcomer to this shouldn’t. It will eventually waste even more of his time.
As I said, a paid forum, paid coaching, anything paid has a tendency to filter through the people that shouldn’t be there. And those who pay for something tend to make the best of it… so, that’s that.
Had you bought OWM when you were starting out, you probably wouldn’t follow it
hahaha
Why 90% fail? because they don’t focus enough on their own Making money plan.
We should be focus doing one thing at a time, before we go to the next step..
that simple..:)
Don’t believe? Proof it your self please..
