I’m making further progress with my wife’s static WordPress site and I’ve come onto a great plugin to use: Breadcrumb Navigation XT.
As the name suggests, it offers you an easy way to create a navigation bar with links to previously surfed pages on the site, just like a bread-crumb trail. (Read more on Wikipedia).
Let’s say you’ve just visited a new website where you clicked on a bunch of links. You ended up on a page and wondering how did you get there? This plugin will present something like this on your page:
Home > Internet Marketing > Affiliates > Hosting Providers > Hostmonster
Each of the above being a link to the related page.
I never saw any sense in integrating this on my blog, since it doesn’t have too much of a hierarchy, and navigation is made easy by the theme anyways. But, pondering on some design aspects of my wife’s site I though that this was a must on any static site.
This plugin offers many ways of tweaking, customizing and great flexibility suiting your every need.
Disclaimer: This is not a paid review, I’m just over excited… And wanted to share this with those of you who are not familiar with it already.
Enjoy! download
