There would be instances when your pride will prevent you from evolving. It begins early in your life, when as a teenager your mother offers you help in asking that girl-cross-the-street out on a date, and it will show its ugly face when you’re an adult. It is when it hurts the most, too.

You have a life-routine: a wife, a house, a car, a job, some of you will have children, and you juggle it just right to enjoy yourself. After years of juggling you are the master. You are the guru, and have recently seen the light. You are blind to opportunity offered on a silver platter.

Early in 2001, I was sitting in Composition 101 as part of my English Lit. studies, talking to one of the students about how writing is a powerful tool, if done properly. He mentioned blogging, how it was a growing trend, and offered me to join him in a blog he was thinking to start.
Needless to say, I refused. I was furious inside. How could he even think about: offering ME!, to join him. Think about it: Alex, The Inventor of Blogging, is offered to join some shmoe.
“I could start dozens of blogs, if I want”, I thought that day.

The short story is that he started his blog, and I continued juggling. He is now an experienced blogger, and I’m just starting my first. I lost 8 years of experience and potential income because of my pride.

Watch your pride people.
